Klentzman History

Klentzman Intermediate School is named in honor of Ms. Mary Ivena Gasaway Klentzman. Ms. Klentzman was associated for many years with the Alief Independent School district. She began the Creative Arts program in the schools and served as a member of the School Board for many years. She also taught piano and voice lessons to the children and adults in the community.

Ms. Klentzman was a member of the Alief Community Church for 60 years. February 26th is celebrated at Klentzman Intermediate as her birthday.

She graduated from Alief High School and one of her greatest joys was having our school named after her. Ms. Klentzman passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2001 at the age of 82.

Klentzman Intermediate opened in August 1995 and currently enrolls over 1000 students.
